About the Author
Riza Wisnom has been in the pet industry for over thirty years. Her work has appeared on the cover of Groomer to Groomer (USA), in Toilettage Magazine (France), online in outlets including the Huffington Post and in local periodicals. She is the author of The Complete Guide to Asian Style Grooming and enjoys teaching others as a lecturer in the USA and abroad. She has been nominated for Barkleigh Honors in the “Book of the Year” and “Up and Coming Speaker of the Year” categories.
She began her career as a kennel attendant and grooming assistant in her hometown of Beaverton, Oregon USA. She remained in the pet service industry throughout college where she was working on her degree in pre-veterinary studies with the hopes of progressing on to veterinary medicine.
In 1991, Riza met her husband, Tony Wisnom and eventually moved to his home state of Maryland where she auditioned for a grooming position with a local salon and was hired. Smitten with this new phase of her animal career, she laid her college plans to rest and never looked back.
Riza and her husband, Tony, currently reside in Baltimore, Maryland with their two sons, Cody and Lane as well as a Sphynx cat named Rumple Stilt-skin, a Maltese named Itty Bitty, and a white Toy Poodle named Bo Peep.
